Why now?
The coffee industry is facing many challenges on a global scale and companies all along the value system need to adapt. By focusing on technology and digitalization we can empower any coffee actor (from the first mile to the last mile of the value stream) to strategically advance their businesses and bring about transformative change. Change that will strengthen livelihoods and narrow the social and economic inequalities of the coffee sector.
How do we bring technology to the table?
We know what it takes to get coffee to the hands of a consumer and understand that how that happens can look very different for different actors. The integration of technology is a key to achieving greater efficiency, but not every tool or platform can be a fit for all.
DCF draws on specialists in all aspects of the coffee industry to share their expertise on the intersection of coffee and technology. Elisa Criscione
FOUNDER & CEO
Elisa is the creator of Digital Coffee Future and the Founder and Lead Consultant of Expressing Origin, a consultancy whose mission is to support tropical agriculture stakeholders to develop tailor-made solutions, with a special emphasis on coffee and digitalization. Before fully dedicating herself to a career in coffee, she deepened her understanding of the application of digital solutions in agriculture in Ghana and worked in Colombia in the sustainable development arena where she first entered into contact with coffee.

Marta Salazar
PROGRAM COORDINATOR
Marta has more than 20 years of experience working with the government and private sector in sustainable development, research and social work. The projects in which she has participated have focused especially on local-specific scenarios geared to providing relevant and high impact in the territories. As a result, she actively worked together with ex-combatants around Colombia with the aim to support their agricultural-based projects. Marta is also the co-founder of Venus en La Tierra, a coffee company dedicated to working and improving the livelihoods of small farmers in Colombia.

Hubert Peri
SENIOR CONSULTANT & EDUCATION MANAGER
Hubert Peri is the Lead Consultant and Trainer for Digital Coffee Future's DOEP program. Based in Chiapas, Mexico, he has worked for over 15 years on access to finance, market, business intelligence and advisory services for smallholder coffee, cocoa, honey and handicraft organizations throughout Latin America and Africa. Hubert is also founder of TheFarmerbox, a start-up dedicated to providing first mile digital data solutions for smallholder organizations, and digital transformation ambassador for the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA).

Carolina Pirola
COMMUNICATIONS LEAD
Carolina is a journalist and communications specialist based in Madrid, Spain. She has over 15 years of experience working in media. A personal interest in sustainability led her to investigate coffee farming communities in the Canary Islands and northern Argentina. This introduced her to the coffee industry, which has become her passion and focus for the last few years. Carolina also collaborates with The Chain Collaborative, where she supports consulting and community-led development projects.

Nora Burkey
CONSULTANT M&E LEAD
Nora Burkey is the founder of The Chain Collaborative, a non-profit in the coffee sector that invests in local leaders around the world to develop and implement small community projects for livelihood improvements. She is one of the four creators of the SCA's Coffee Sustainability Program. Under the banner of TCC and in collaboration with other industry colleagues, she consults on a number of coffee projects, has written for several coffee magazines and blogs, and has taught about coffee and sustainability for a variety of educational institutions.
